CBS Considering Nifong to Host The Price is Right!
LOS ANGELES (Disassociated Press) June 29, 2007 – “'Mike Nifong – come on down – you’re the next host of The Price is Right!’...or ‘Mike Nifong, you have the right to remain silent…’ – either of these could be the next words Mike Nifong hears,” quipped a jocular Seth Gumbridge, CBS spokesperson, who announced today that the former Durham County District Attorney was being considered to replace the iconic Bob Barker as the next host of The Price is Right!
The disclosure came in the wake of two landmark announcements regarding both Nifong and The Price is Right! – Early this week, Fox News broke the story that Rosie O’Donnell had turned down The Price is Right! Host’s job; while last week, The Disassociated Press reported that Nifong was being considered to replace Don Imus in the morning slot on MSNBC (see MSNBC Considering Nifong to Take Former Imus Slot, The Disassociated Press, June 20, 2007).
“Just like with Rosie, we think that Nifong could bring a freshness and ‘new twist,’ as it were, to The Price is Right!" continued Gumbridge. “One idea we had was to require all contestants to submit blood, semen, hair and urine samples that Nifong could attempt to arbitrarily match with alleged, highly improbable complaints that had been lodged with police around the country, and the announcer – when announcing a new contestant – could shout out ‘Come on down! You’re the next potential persecution victim on The Price is Right!”"
