CNN, Fox News to Launch Shows About Each Other

NEW YORK (Disassociated Press) September 28, 2007 – Cable television news giants CNN and Fox News have each simultaneous announced that they will soon launch a one hour program that will analyze and comment on the other.

“We’ve found that our audience just loves it when we talk about – and take shots at – CNN,” stated Fox News Program Developer Seth Gumbridge.

The concept came into fruition earlier this month when Bill O’Reilly, who hosts The O’Reilly Factor at 8 PM EST on the Fox News Network, and Rick Sanchez, who hosts Out in the Open, which airs at the same time on CNN, each spent a good amount of time talking about, commenting on and criticizing the other on their own program.

The ballyhoo began over comments O’Reilly had made about Sylvia’s Restaurant, a black owned establishment in Harlem, where O’Reilly had recently dined with commentator and activist Al Sharpton.

“Polling and focus group data indicates the audience just loves the whole ‘claws out, no holds barred' approach when it comes to reporting on the competition,” added Gumbridge.

Such sniping is nothing new between the two networks, and their giant media entity parent companies NewsCorp and Time Warner, Inc.
