Chief Justice Fails to F*ck Up Sotomayor Swear-in Ceremony

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Disassociated Press) August 8, 2009 – In what is being viewed as a setback by "birthers" and other critics of the Obama Administration, Chief Justice Roberts successfully swore in Sonya Sotomayor, President Obama's first opportunity to appoint a Justice to the United States Supreme Court, without a flaw or  mis-speak.  Roberts was required to visit the White House on the evening of January 20th earlier this year to re-administer the Presidential Oath of Office to Barack Obama, having spoken some of the words out of order during the traditional noon swearing in ceremony.

"This is going to be a real set back, for those of us who were hoping Roberts would flub it again, giving us the opportunity to question the validity of all of Sotomayor's judicial votes going forward," stated Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), who was perhaps the Senate's most vocal opponent to the Sotomayor confirmation.

"This just demonstrates again Roberts's spinelessness, and his betrayal of conservative values," said radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.  "He should never have validated Obama's legitimacy as President by going back and administering the oath correctly; and he should never have administered Sotomayor's oath correctly in the first place."  Roberts was the first of two appointees to the high court by Republican President George W. Bush.

Newly seated Senator Al Franken (D-MN) had a different perspective.  "I'm glad we're not going to have a distraction over this.  I'm still trying to figure out where the men's room is."
