Congress to Revise Economic Stimulus Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Disassociated Press) February 18, 2008 – Only days after the original passage of an economic stimulus package, designed to ‘jump start’ a troubled U.S. economy, Congress has passed a new statute which revises the program that is scheduled to mail rebate checks of up to $1200 per household in the mid-spring.

“We wanted to be sure that the money would be spent lavishly and frivolously as is intended in the plan, rather than be saved or invested,” stated United States Senator Charles Schumer of New York.  “So instead of mailing out checks, we’ll be mailing the rebates in the form of Visa Gift Cards.”

President Bush is expected to sign modified bill into law this week.
