Fox Taps Torture Talks in New Reality TV Show

NEW YORK (Disassociated Press) February 18, 2008 - The Fox Network's reality TV guru, Seth Gumbridge, appears to have once again tapped into themes and discussions within the popular culture to come up with a reality television concept.

The new show, set to be called Are You Tougher than a Terrorist?, will feature contestants subjecting themselves to tasering, water boarding, sleep deprivation, being made to stand for long periods of time and being subjected to loud and/or smary music, among other things, in competition against one another to ultimately crown the "Tougher than a Terrorist" champion for the season.

The show is expected to be yet the next in a line of reality television triumphs for Gumbridge at Fox, which includes Make Me Cringe! (see Sex Crimes 'Expert' Lands Reality TV Series, The Disassociated Press, June 5, 2006), hosted by Owen Lefave, ex-husband of former teacher and child sex offender Debra Lafave, that features contestants competing to see which among them can subject themselves to the greatest degree of humiliation;  Star School (see Garofalo, Kilmead 'Debate' Inspires New Celebrity Game Show, The Disassociated Press, February 28, 2003), a show that pits celebrities debating obscure topics of which they have no knowledge while being subjected to unsavory and disgusting distractions, and  Chiller! (see Michael Jackson Interview Inspires New Reality Television Show, The Disassociated Press, February 6, 2003) a show in which contestants inhabit and populate the Antarctic in a competition to have Michael Jackson adopt their children.
