Late April Fool's Day Prank Draws Ire

NEW YORK (Disassociated Press) April 28, 2009 – A belated April Fool's Day Prank perpetrated by the White House has angered many residents of the City of New York. On Monday, the United States Air Force passenger jet that serves as Air Force One when the President is traveling "buzzed" the Statue of Liberty here in New York Harbor, along with a fighter jet, in an effort to fool New Yorkers into believing that the city was once again about to be the victim of a 9/11 type of attack.

"Why would the White House wait all the way until the end of April to do this?  Don't they think enough of us to pull an April Fool's Day gag the day it's supposed to happen?" stated Ted Hucklesberger.

"I thought all the gags were supposed to happen on the 1st, giving us a chance to realize that it's just a joke," observed Lisa Spignoli.

In a statement, the White House claimed that the tardiness was due to distractions stemming from the global economic crisis, and increasing international political tensions.
