Man Gives Girlfriend Coupons for Valentine’s Day

 MORBRYSBURGSVILLE, MA (Disassociated Press) February 15, 2007 – ‘Time Management Guru’ Scott McAllister has once again demonstrated his guile in efficiency and economy in holiday festivities this Valentine’s Day.

         “I was sitting in the coffee shop by the unemployment office, waiting for it to open,” explained McAllister, “wondering what I was going to give my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day.”  Mr. McAllister has been dating Penelope Vandersmeer for over three years.  “Then I noticed all these newspapers that other customers had just left behind – and it occurred to me that the coupons inside the paper would make a very valuable gift for both the receiver and the giver.”

        During the Christmas season of ’05, McAllister had made national headlines when he trimmed his and Ms. Vandersmeer’s Christmas tree with garbage in order to reduce the number of household chores he was faced with (see Man Trims Tree with Trash as 'Time Management' Measure, The Disassociated Press, December 23, 2005).

 “I thought about that Christmas tree, and then I had another idea – so I went and looked in the dumpster behind the flower shop around the corner, and sure enough, there were lots of discarded flower by products just sitting there for the taking – I was able to fashion together quite a lovely bouquet, to go with the coupon gifts.”

         Just as the case was in December of 2005, Ms. Vandersmeer has remained unavailable for comment.
