Nikki Blonsky Being Considered to Host The View
NEW YORK (Disassociated Press) July 15, 2007 – On the eve of her overnight success, soon to be superstar Nikki Blonsky is being considered to be the next host of ABC’s The View, according to an ABC insider.
“We think she’ll have the perfect chemistry to replace Rosie O’Donnell as the show’s moderator,” stated an ABC insider to Disassociated Press associates. “We think she could be a talk show phenomenon.”
Blonsky, whose film debut will occur this coming Friday, will be reprising the role of Tracy Turnblad in the movie musical remake of John Waters' original Hairspray, a role that originally launched Ricki Lake to stardom and talk show host success back in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.
“We think that Nikki is poised to follow in the footsteps of Ricki, and go on to great talk show host success, and that she could be perfect for The View,” the ABC insider concluded. “The only question is – do we want to keep her fat, and make her mean, like Rosie, or do we want to keep her sweet, and make her lean, like Ricki?"
