Newspapers Institute ‘Sinbad Watch’

WEST HILLS, CA (Disassociated Press) March 27, 2007 – Across the country, various newspapers haven announced that they had adopted a version of segment which is being referred to as the ‘Sinbad Watch,’ in the aftermath of last week’s coverage of the false rumors of the death of the actor/comedian.

“We ran an article about Sinbad not being dead last week,” stated Nick Banyon, Society Editor for the Santa Monica Outlook.  “Then we thought to ourselves, ‘if the fact that Sinbad isn’t dead was noteworthy on a given day last week, why would the status of Sinbad’s state of animation be any less noteworthy on any given day?’”

The rumors apparently started when vandals posted the hoax on Sinbad’s entry in a free online encyclopedia.  A number of newspapers across the country reported on the hoax.

At the time of publication for today, March 27, 2007, every newspaper with the ‘Sinbad Watch’ was reporting that star of Jingle All the Way and Houseguest was still among the living.
