Palin Moves to Ban Books with 'Lipstick on a Pig' References
JUNEAU (Disassociated Press) September 12, 2008 - Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has called for the removal of all books in public libraries throughout the State of Alaska that contain any use of the phrase 'lipstick on a pig .'
"We've seen how offensive the use of this phrase can be to many people, and the phrase has no place in Alaskan public libraries," the Governor was quoted.
Spared, apparently, will be one of Palin's own favorite books, George Orwell's Animal Farm, which metaphorically depicts, through the personified use of farm animals, the growth of corruption and the implementation of totalitarianism amongst and by the Bolsheviks in the early days of the Soviet Union. "While there are many references to pigs throughout the book, there are no specific instances of anyone putting lipstick on a pig, or any pig putting lipstick on itself, or any pig having lipstick on at anytime," stated Palin.
"Most probably, that's because the Bolsheviks would have considered lipstick to be sentimental, indulgent, and bourgeois," the Governor surmised.
