Palin Suggests New 'Angle' on Bailout Plan
JUNEAU (Disassociated Press) September 27, 2008 - While herself not part of the legislative process in the bailout debate, prospective Vice President Sarah Palin, Republican V.P. Nominee, has inserted her 'two cents' into the discussion.
"It occurs to me that we can kill two birds with one stone here," explained the current Alaskan Governor. "We could turn all the homes the country buys into mini-wildlife national park/sanctuaries, then transfer all the wildlife from ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge) to those houses. This way, the people of the country could finally actually visit and see our beautiful Alaskan wildlife, now relocated right into their neighborhoods; while in the meantime, it would clear the way to drilling for badly needed domestic oil in the region."
Palin has long been an advocate of drilling in the reserve, which is currently barred under federal law. Palin's Vice Presidential opponent, Delaware Democratic Senator Joe Biden, was quick to be critical of Palin's plan. "The idea is ill conceived and not well thought out," explained Biden. "I've long been a champion of preserving the pristine nature of the refuge. And besides, it's disturbing that Sarah can't keep from talking about killing wildlife, whether it's two birds, or a moose, caribou, wolves, polar bears, or whatever else."
