Republicans Finally Get a Chance to Have Some Fun, Scholar Claims

ATLANTA (Disassociated Press) April 16, 2009 – With the Democrats firmly in control of both the executive and legislative branches of the federal government for the first time in 14 years, Republicans at last had a chance to join in protest celebrations yesterday in the semi-impromptu, "Tea Party Tax Day Protest" staged at sites all across the country.

"For years, Republicans could only sit idly by, watching left wing protesters enjoy themselves, as the Republican controlled government engaged in massive international social engineering experiments and  ran up high domestic deficits, culminating with TARP and the first round of the automobile industry bailout at the end of the Bush Administration - all of these in defiance of basic conservative Republican tenets," reported Bartholomew J. Sneed, Professor of Political Science at the University of Georgia.  Professor Sneed was on hand for the Atlanta protest, the coverage of which was among the more prominent media events relating to the nation wide rally.

"But - what could grass roots Republicans do?  It was their own people manning the helm - what were they going to do, protest themselves?  Now that the other team has picked up the ball where the outgoing Republicans left off, and has begun running with it, Republicans finally get a chance to speak their minds and express themselves."
