Sexual Diversity Bill ‘Not Far Enough,’ Claims Flynt
LOS ANGELES (Disassociated Press) May 26, 2006 – Hustler Publisher and political activist Larry Flynt has been critical, to the surprise of many, of recent proposed legislation introduced into the California legislature by Assembly person Sheila Kuehl. The bill would require California public schools to teach about important historical contributions made by gay, lesbian and transgender individuals.
“Why stop there?” queried Flynt when interviewed on the subject by Disassociated Press associates. “Why not teach about the sexual proclivities of all important historical figures?”
Flynt continued to explain that the bill should be expanded to discuss the sexual preferences of all historic figures as part of the curriculum. “Most especially, I think the schools should focus on teaching about historic figures who enjoyed bondage and discipline, sado-masochism, group sex, and all other so called ‘deviant’ sexual behaviors.”
When asked by Disassociated Press reporters as to what any of this would have to do with the importance of the historical contributions made by the individuals who would be studied, Flynt replied, “well – if you’re going to make it matter of academic relevance as to what the private sexual behaviors of historic individuals were, I just think it’s discriminatory to stop with just gays, lesbians, and transgenders.”
