Schumer Introduces Resolution Condemning Hannity, Limbaugh and Levin
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Disassociated Press) September 21, 2007 - One day after the introduction of a resolution by Republican Senator John Cornyn III of Texas to condemn the language of a moveon.org ad in the New York Times which mockingly parodied the name of General David Pertraus, the current commander of United States forces in Iraq, New York Senator Charles Schumer has introduced a resolution to condemn what he claims to be "similarly derogatory language" from conservative commentators Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin.
"Of course parodying someone's name is sophomoric and juvenile," stated Schumer, "but those three have been doing the same thing from the right for years."
Schumer notes that Levin frequently refers to the Clintons as 'B.J' Bill and Hillary 'Rotten' on his radio show; monikers which Hannity repeats on his own nationally syndicated radio talk show. Rush Limbaugh has for years referred to women's organizations as 'feminazis,' Schumer added.
"I don't think it's part of the important business of the United States Senate to spend time passing resolutions criticizing childishness in nonetheless protected speech," Schumer concluded. "However, if we are going to do it - let's at least be even handed about it."
